LOL!

Awesome!

A Gibson neck actually made by Gibson (not in someone's garage) on a prewar pot with a killer flathead tone ring!

Beegee: Actually looks pretty good!
Nothing like a B&D resonator to bring out the best in a Gibson!

My question is why?

What kind of pot is it? I don't see too many with the tulip flange.

Looks like it was originally a B&D Super or a #3 Special with a Silver Bell tone ring. I have a 1928 reprint Bacon catalog and all the Specials come with that resonator. It ain't a Silver Bell, but it's pretty close!

A travesty to both brand names. Not just a B&D resonator, but looks like a modified or disfigured B&D pot.
I don't think "Supers" had a tulip flange like that.

Well - you have to see a lot, before your eyes fall out.

I wonder what happened to the Gibson rim, flange and resonator. Strange.

Sorry - but I canīt include it in the B&D database - itīs to "fancy" - LOL!

Polle

Isn't it obvious?

Someone had a "conversion" neck made for it!

No one wants to admit they play a 1964 RB!

What a waste of a good Gibson neck..

Polle,

Someone obviously converted the Gibson pot to a tenor.

My theory (FWIW): There was a time (70's-80's?) when bowties were not in style. Someone had an original bowtie 5 string, removed the neck, and replaced it with a more "classic" looking "prewar" style neck. The orphan bowtie neck was sold or swapped and eventually got married to the B & D pot.
