In response to Nancy's post about kids today.

I remember this exchange between Matt Dillon and Dirty Sally:

Sally: "I think children out to be kept in a rain barrel and fed through the bung hole (of the barrel) until they're 18!!"

Matt: "What happens when they turn 18 - you let them out?"

Sally: "NOPE! You plug up the bung hole!!!"

Those were my favorite episodes.
I think Dirty Sally was in 2 episodes. If I"m not mistaken, one was a 2 part episode.
Trivia question:
What was the name of Dirty Sally's mule?

You were right about the 2 parter.

The actress, Jeanette Nolan was in 8 episodes of Gunsmoke as different characters. Three of the episodes were as Dirty Sally.

"Gunsmoke" (8 episodes)

1. Potato Road (12 October 1957) - Ma Grilk
2. Amy's Good Deed (12 April 1958) - Amy Slater
3. Love Thy Neighbor (28 January 1961) - Rose Gallway
4. Aunt Thede (19 December 1964) - Aunt Thede
5. Pike: Part 1 (1 March 1971) - 'Dirty' Sally Fergus
6. Pike: Part 2 (8 March 1971) - 'Dirty' Sally Fergus
7. P.S. Murry Christmas (27 December 1971) - Emma Grundy
8. One for the Road (24 January 1972) - 'Dirty'Sally Fergus

I always get going on the subject of Gunsmoke - I loved it!

The Gunsmoke theme song works out pretty good on a banjo. I have played along with the TV show before, but it's been a while.
( Talk about being out of something to do )
I believe sometimes it was played in D, and sometimes in F.

Versatile gal, wasn't she?
as Sally, with J. Arness

Dirty, but nice.

as Lady MacBeth, with O. Welles

Beautiful, but evil.

Leslie, I have done quite a bit of theater.
Trust me on this:
A good actress can be anything ANY woman can be.
All I did was search for images of Jeanette Nolan, and there she was.
Worked with Alfred Hitchcock in movies and TV, was in "Liberty Valance" with John Wayne, was directed by Fritz Lang in the Big Heat, and so on.

I just liked those two pics, because of the vast difference. Sally, with a good deal of dirt on the outside, but inside, a basically decent person; and Mrs. McB, with a murderously filthy INTERIOR, and a very decent outer shell.

Oh, I believe you 100%. You are the great one !!!
Forgive me if that did not come out right.
It's just so remarkable that the actress who portrayed Dirty Sally was such a stunning beauty.
