Banjos should be on the prescription pads of doctors for the removal of excess nervous energy - and in particular, as an effective therapy for those, banjo inclined people, trying to quit smoking.
Just keep a banjo in easy reach on a stand - to pick up and pick - instead of picking up, and lighting up a cigarette. It worked for me. It could work for you.
Of course, ones medical insurance should cover the cost of the banjo! Since It will cost the insurer far less than the insured's future cancer treatments.

There is a new one shot hand gun just been released in the US, which is to be marketed for disabled people - consequently, it too could be available on prescription, as it is a 'medical devise'. So why not banjos? Depending on your insurance, you could end up with a Stelling, or a HIP version from Hondo!

My 5 string banjo has always been a great health help.
This world would be a much better place if more people
would play the banjo.
Peace and Happy New Year

Count me in on this plan as I am already someone who benefits from music therapy (yes, I am being serious). Music (in my case the banjo) does amazing things for people with mental illness.

Last year I ran into a period where I was having panic attacks.These attacks would come on with no warning and 1 of the effects was I couldnt breath, my throat would close up and I couldnt swallow.
The day before I was able to see my doctor I had one of these attacks.I grabbed my grand daddy's old banjo and ran out to the front yard and walked and played fast songs until I was exhausted to try and get the panic under control.It worked LOL.Next day my doctor put me on meds that have helped greatly. I still play out on the porch or in the yard but only to relax now.
Banjos = GOOD MEDICINE!

One of those elusive things in life these days, soon to be extinct altogether I think.
