Thanks to requests from fellow BHO members, I have added some updates to the Hartford collection...
Below is the total collection as of 9-1-2008.
What I have are my 'arrangements' rather than transcriptions or attempts at transcriptions. They are in G and in Scruggs style and arranged to capture the melody and spirit of the tune in question.
My preference is to work with BHO members.
1. Boogie (w/words) (added 9-1-2008)
2. Cuckoo's Nest (Performed, but not written by Hartford)
3. Don't Leave Your Records In The Sun (added 8-26-3008)
4. Gentle On My Mind
5. Good Old Electric Washing Machine (Circa 1943) (8-27-08)
6. Granny Won'tcha Smoke Some...
7. Gum Tree Canoe
8. In Tall Buildings (words added 8-28-2008)
9. Let Him Go On Mama
10. Lorena (Civil War tune, performed by Hartford)
11. Old Time River Man
12. On Christmas Eve (added 8-26-3008)
13. Presbyterian Guitar
14. Steam Boat Whistle Blues
15. Steam Powered Aereo Plane
16. Up On The Hill Where They Do The Boogie
17. Wish We Had Our Time Again
18. "Hartford Riffology" in his Low E, Drop A tuning(8-27-2008)
While I was working on "On Christmas Eve", I tuned down to John's low E tuning, which is the same as our standard G tuning with a drop C...in his tuning it is a Drop A....and he was playing in the key of A...anyway, the tune was slow, so I wrote down some of the ways he was using 'moving voice' chords or Voice-Leading, where one note in the chord moves until the chord becomes an entirely different chord...interesting sounding stuff...in the file, the banjo voice is tuned low like his for special effect. The name of this new file, which sounds like a tune, but not neccesarily one of his...is "Hartford Riffology...."
All I need is an E-addresss....
