Sound

I play Scruggs-style bluegrass. I know it's an overused adjective but the sound is AWESOME. The tone has a beautiful quality that gives excellent note separation and it rings like a bell right up to the 22nd fret.

Sound Rating: 10

Setup

The banjo was shipped with the neck separated from the pot for insurance purposes Fortunately I am very comfortable about setting up a banjo and I have made no changes since assembling it apart from installing Keith pegs.

Setup Rating: not rated

Appearance

It has a maple rim and neck. Rosewood fingerboard. Deep shade gold plating. A real treat for the eyes.

Appearance Rating: 10

Reliability

The hardware is first class.

Reliability Rating: 10

Customer Service

I discussed the banjo with Steve before I made the purchase. He was very helpful.

Customer Service: 10

Components

The whole instrument, from tailpiece to peghead is first class.

Components Rating: 10

Overall Comments

The banjo is settling down well. It has had a good "road test" at our local regular jam session. It is a delight to play and my clawhammer playing is suffering because I can't put it down ;)

Overall Rating: 10
