As a Folk musician my banjo style is based on several different forms. I frail, strum and pick...usually with either a thumbpick and bare fingers (but with Solar Nails), or with five bare digits.

When I use fingerpicks I am sold on Dunlop Brass .025...love 'em, end of story.

The thumb pick is another matter: Trying to find one that will stay on without giving me gangrene is the problem. I like the Extra Heavy Golden Gate ivoroid thumbpick...it stays on great...but, you guessed it. Gangrene!

So when I saw the ads for the Perfect Touch thumbpick I was intrigued. The claims of comfort while staying on was a big selling point.

I took the stout $17.95 plunge.

The good news is that the pick clings like a crazy ex-girlfriend, but is all-day comfortable.

The downside is that I have not yet been able to find a suitable position to allow vigorous up and down strumming. The plectrum portion of the pick is angled in such a way that lends itself to single notes and down-strums only. The bluegrass players should give this one a try. Folkies, find someone who has one and try it before you spend $17.95...it may not work for your style.

But for comfort and tenacity, the Perfect Touch Thumb Pick is EXCELLENT.
