Interesting how it had a subtle impact on tone. I couldn't improve on #5 but thin rim banjos do produce some over tones. This banjo doesn't require stuffing to control the tones; but the other head was thinner. John's hide head is thicker and eliminated the hint of overtones, left the note attack in place, and looks great. The tea stain is a very good option color wise with less brown and more amber. I couldn't be more pleased. David E.
