This is the peghead inlay, it is based on a one off banjo I am working on for Chuck Ogsburg and the basic idea germinated from some original Kentucky long rifle inlays..

Very nice, Glenn! I new you were working on that. I gave Chuck Ogsbury a copy of "Steel Canvas", as a Christmas present, a few years ago.
The early Pennsylvania and Kentucky long-rifles really caught my eye. I knew Chuck had collected them, before he started ODE. (And that he sold his gun collection to start ODE.) So I suggested using some of the long-rifle motifs on OME's new generation of Old Time banjos.
I was thilled to hear he gave the project to you.

Ed, This isn't actually the Kentucky rifle project, although these are an outgrowth of it. I'm really looking forward to getting that one done. I did a lot of research and even attended some long rifle get togethers to refresh myself on those inlays as it had been a long time since I made my last Kentucky rifle (my early twenties...). Chuck has a real connection with PA and KY, so the concept is perfect. Two more of these in the works, I really liked the subdued look of this walnut one especially with the raw engraved brass parts he used along with the mat wood finish. Glenn
