RW, first of all thanks for your comment about the banjo. It does photograph well. The rim is rosewood as well as the cut tonering. I played one of these banjos with a tubaphone ring and it sounded good. The tone mirrors most with brass rings. Since this banjo's skin head has cured - it sounds complex, warm, and has plenty of volume. I do have a Flesher banjo with ebony ring...and the result is similar.
