Thanks. I usually play 2/3-finger style, which lends itself very well to "classic" or "guitar-style" playing. I usually use nylon strings too. 2/3-finger is fairly common in NC. If you're interested in learning more about the style, contact Gail Gillespie here on BHO. She's in NC not far from me and is the 2/3-finger style "guru" around here. I don't exactly play by the "rules" she proposes, but she'd be a great start.

Wow, That's awesome sounding! This is a new style to me, but one I will pursue.
Thanks for the post, I could listen to that all day.

I forgot to mention that the instrument is a banjola, a cross between a 5-string banjo and mandola, and I love it (it has steel strings).

Thanks Ken. I love it, although I'm not sure all BHO members share my feelings that it qualifies to be posted on BHO, but it does usually get nice remarks anyway (I used to be biased myself until I played and owned one). The pattern has been that fewer people listen to or watch my banjola posts than my banjo posts, but I get more complimentary remarks on the banjola pieces than the banjo. Same on YouTube. I videoed "Joy to the World" about a year ago, once on banjola, and once on banjo, with the piece played exactly the same in each case. The hits on YouTube are about 3:1 in favor of the banjo.

Thanks... one of my favorites and fun to play... my left arm jumps around a lot in this one. I'll post an old video.

Thank you Dave, I feel the same way about the banjola. It can be very versatile.
