I hate to start my first entry with " HELP" but that is what I need. I am a ten year survivor of Multiple Myeloma a bone marrow cancer that destroys bone by placing pressure on the bone. So what does this have to do with my banjo playing.Almost everything!. The chemo i get has made me so week I have a hard time just picking up the banjo and the real kicker is holding that weight on my neck/back. I haven't played much for the last five years and now I have numb fingers that don't go where I want them to go. This is nothing new! I would like to sell my banjo ( Stelling Golden Cross) and get a lighter banjo that sounds right. I say right because I have a banjola that sounds good but not like a real banjo. Any suggestions? How about an open back or a Good Time. I want to keep the cost down as much as possible. I have started over several times and my high water mark was "Little Pal of Mine" from Murphy's No Tab Lessons. It seems that just as I progress another problem comes up and the banjo is on the back burner enough that when I start over it's almost at square one. I think it's time to go or go home.

I am a 70 year old retired orthodontist, and I have not played my banjo much since I was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer 10 years ago.. Now I can't hang it around my neck anymore and think I need to sell it. I am a bluegrass dj on WGCS radio Goshen College, Goshen In. and my show is banjo centric . I was ask by a famous banjo teacher (no tab please) who my favorite banjo player was other than Earl and i couldn't make up my mind there are so many great players but Ron Block and Ron Stewart are at the top of my list.
