It was night 9 of 10 for Pittsburgh 3 Rivers Arts Festival and it was Bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs set for the 7:30 PM performance on the main stage. The Festival is known for its almost certain rainfall, and earlier the day brought some sprinkles. Saturday evening could go either way. But as Ricky made his way to the mic, there was no doubt there would be some thunder, Kentucky thunder, that is! They opened with How Mountain Girls Can Love. He did his signature Highway 40 Blues, Ralph Stanley, Uncle Pen and even James Taylor's I'm Goin' to Carolina in My Mind. But it was the BHO's own Russ Carson on banjo that thrilled me beyond words! I knew he would be going places, and after playing in various bands it seemed only obvious to me he'd be sharing the stage with such a renowned artist as Mr. Skaggs. I have messaged Russ on the forums here several times, and he always responded most kindly. Good to see you take your rightful place, Russs! I enjoyed the show tremendously!
