I posted a version of Minuet in G with Variation that represents some new ground for me. I blended 5 string melodic style concepts with four string tremolo and strumming technique and used those as building blocks to make a variation of Minuet in G.
One of the concepts of 5 string melodic style is to use as many open strings as possible and let the open string ring while the next note is played on a different string. This creates are much more legato rather than percussive sound. Minuet in G played on the Plectrum is a great song to apply this melodic concept, because the open tuning is C, G, B, D which is all of the G major triad, and the 1 and 5 of the C major triad. This provides a lot of opportunity to use open strings during the song. This technique is used in part one the first and second time through, and in part two near the end of the first time through.
Tremolo is the rapid plucking of the string with up/down strokes. Simulation of two banjos can be done by breaking the tremolo for a moment and plucking a note on a different string. This technique is used the first time through part two.
Arpeggios triplets can be simulated by using right hand strumming technique where you pluck up on the first string then down on strings 3, 2 while playing a chord with the left hand. This is used at the very end of the song.
It is important to note that this is a variation of Minuet in G, and varies considerably from the original.
