Just playing because I love it. I got a banjo when I was a teenager and took a few lessons, but it never amounted to anything. I pawned it and always regretted it. Now, a million years later on my 32 birthday, I decided to go buy a banjo and learn it. I am pretty strong-willed and determined. I play a few different instruments already. I haven't really put the banjo down since I got it. I got it at the end of September and started taking lessons immediately. I really look forward to being able to jam with others playing something other than cripple creek. ha! ha!

An Update 2 years later. I moved so I am not able to go to my original teacher. I have went to Camp Bluegrass and loved it. This year I am going to Acoustic Music Camp, but the best news of all is that I am trying to switch over to Clawhammer. I am doing it on my own since I don't have a teacher so it will be a real challenge for me. Thank goodness I have all the great people here on the BanjoHangout.
2011 Update: I live and breathe clawhammer. Love it! Hoping to help keep old time alive.
