I finally got to jam tonight with some local guys here in Okinawa who play some great bluegrass. Billed as "the Sometimes Bluegrass Band", it consisted of Hiroshige Kitanjo on guitar, Tetsuji Uehara on fiddle and Masafumi Tokuchi on mandolin. They were kind enough to let a rank amature like me sit in and it was great. At least I'm invited back at their next jam, and I will be there. I can't tell you all how great it was to do this.

I'm tickled pink to just be able to sit in and play with people, as I've been a closet picker till now. I have played ukulele with others in a jam setting, but this was a completely different animal. I've also got some folks at work that I've played mandolin a few times at lunch in the past few weeks. I think I'm ready to bring the banjo to our lunchtime jams.
