i get so dishearten to hear how everyone is progressing and i have been trying to play for 8 months on the 23rd of oct ,

I think it's much harder the second time around. I played for several years, then put my banjo for even more years and now I'm trying to get back into playing. I practice every day, but most days I have to force myself to. I get the feeling I'll never get good enough to jam again. Then I just keep after it. I hope I can lean on all of you a little to keep me going.

I'm just about 16 months on doing banjo stuff but if i can help ya out with anything like songs with the chord changes on em or anything can send to ya .One thing i do is play frailing, clawhammer and pick'in so makes any song 3 styles so you can figure out best way to play it and keeps it interesting also . Sometimes i play frailing on the neck and it gives it a neat clipy-clop sound . Will upgrade my you tube video's in about 6 weeks and you'll see and hear some of these playing options and yes i keep it so simple a cave man can almost do it . On pick'in i like to break it up using a capo and like playing in A flat and B flat alot so play songs in other keys like that . Keep moving forward and you get where your going . Happy pick'in & grin'in P.S ..An un happy banjo is an un played banjo .
	lousymom says: 2/24/2012 11:33:06 AM Hang in there. Scott is a great compadre for us newbies. I think when you focus on where you aren't, you forget to enjoy where you are. Just enjoy playing. If you're forcing yourself, you're not enjoying the moment. Remember why you're playing in the first place. Personal enjoyment? Don't worry about jamming. Just enjoy your time with your banjo.
