Goose the Wagon

From sadclown on 2/21/2011 7:19:44 PM

Nathan, I really like the melody.  It seems fun to sing.  Also, the lyrics are interesting because they seem like a traditional and contemporary at the same time.  Is "goose the wagon" an expression you made up or is that just something I haven't come across?  Also, there's that syncopated stroke after, "Honey won't you take the wheel."  Is there an upward brush with your thumb in there?  --Paul

Hi Paul! Gosh, I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to see this.

"Goose the wagon" is an assembled phrase, I guess. I've never heard anyone use it, but I think I would. To "goose it," as my dad would say, means to give 'er hell. Pedal to the metal. Floor it. As for "wagon," well, why not? Thought it was a fun switch from "car" or "truck."

Finally, yes, there is an upward brush on the strings with the tip of the thumb. Eventually I may do a tutorial on that stroke. I use it all the time to put more swing in a song. Thanks for your questions! Again, I sincerely apologize for the delay in answering. Peace!

Nathan
