I just had Arthur convert a 1930s ward tenor (made exactly like some of the woody tb1s-thin rim 5/8" top 1/2 bottom, except with flat back reso wich sounds better than the bowl backs on it, we tried it.) he fit it with his thin rim no hole tone ring. I have to say Arthur is a hell of a nice guy, wizard of a banjo builder, and this is a hell of a banjo, its still settling in and getting better. He knows how to put his stamp on em.

Useless? I suppose that's your blockheaded way of saying you'd like to see a photo? Nice to meet you too, thank you for welcoming me to the forum. It wouldn't be useless if you were familiar with similar banjos or Arthur's work you may have had something intelligent to say. Regardless of this condescending jab I will attempt to post photos, it didn't work the first time I guess.

flattop, "thread is useless without pics" is a time-honored mechanism in online forums for requesting lovely images of the subject mentioned. Google the term and you'll see what I mean.
Oh, and as for me, if you'd have checked around you'd have seen that I'm VERY well familiar with Arthur's work - I own a Hatfield custom, to date my students have ordered three banjos from him, and I've spent many a happy hour at the end of Burton Ridge Road.
As you hang around you'll learn that Arthur is highly respected around the Hangout, and particularly in this group. We are always interested in seeing and hearing examples of his work.

well i appologize if i came on too strong, useless is a strong word, and i thought u were taking opportunity to be a jerk. i did attemp to attach photos but didnt have enough time to figure out how to do it when i wasnt able to copy and paste. not good at figuring out sites and software.

thanks, ill do that tonight. I'll include some of the original tenor, it had an interesting mix of features, thin rim, no ring or hoop, dot inlay neck, ward paddle headstock, flat back reso, but a mastertone style nickel plated\potmetal opf., not the diamond one. but i have seen photos of other 30s style 1s with mastertone style flanges.

Thanks fellas, I couldnt be happier with it. the phone video sound quality stinks, and i didnt really put the stank on it, trying not to make mistakes. It really is a fine instrument, with yes lots of twangy overtones, good ones; I love that about it. the phone didnt really pick up the warmth and punch well, nor did i deliver it, but we'l try again. As Arthur told me it is mellowing and deepening as its together longer and played in. Im glad you like the fact i kept it with style one trappings, Iwanted to fairly represent what the banjo was, plus i like the dark stain color and style one inlay just as well as any Ive seen. I had this tenor for 14 years before i even started playing banjo, and learned on forums here of its respective value and potential to make a hell of bluegrass banjo. Greg Rich and Arthur gave me alot of invaluable advice in its conversion as well as Banjo Bob Anderson who sold me the neck and put me in contact with Arthur. Thanks for the interest..
