different styles

From gdoc on 6/26/2011 12:49:38 AM

I just found out there is a difference between Classical music and Classic.  (in truth, I didn't know there was a Classic form).

Anyway, post either here, to me, yes they are different now that I know what to look for, but still close enough that it's of little importance, as music is music.  And if you like it, that's all it's about.

The Rustic Dance should be listed as Classic, not a rag as I listed it or classical as I was told later.

My next piece will be Classical....

Well, in my book it is all just music, but there are those out there who get in a state about these things. Classic Banjo usually refers to music published for the banjo from roughly 1850 to 1920 (though it didn't stop there), and is usually played on a 'classic banjo', that is, a gut or nylon-strung 5-string, by the likes of SS Stewart, Fairbanks and Cole, etc, and mostly open back. This is the stuff I usually play, and it includes early ragtime.
Then there is classical music played on a banjo, anything from Bach to Brahms

Sorry, I got cut off there.
Yes, anything classical on any kind of banjo with any kind of technique. I guess this group will bring together a bit of both styles, and why not, indeed?
