i thought it would be nice to see all the different examples of the Griffon peghead and what banjo they are from all in one place. Please post yours here! invite your friends too. When i was growing up my next door neighbour had a banjo with the Griffon on the peghead. i didn't know anything or really care that much about banjos back then but i remember really liking the the image and thinking that the artwork was super cool. if i were ever to get a banjo that was what i would want!

When i got into banjo a few years ago i recalled my neighbours banjo and tried to search out that cool gothic bird thing... Well, i found it right away and as it turns out i had good taste! What i was after was "The Holy Grail" of banjos. This was a mixed blessing.... The banjo of my aesthetic dreams was waaaay out of reach... being brand new to banjo i couldn't conceive of spending over 2 grand on a banjo (how fast things change). i filed it away as "maybe someday". Well as it turns out that day came pretty quick...

	Paul Gorman says: 3/7/2011 7:49:36 PM This is the peghead of a 1921 Fairbanks-Vega Whyte Laydie #51099 12" with a replacement neck by Revel of Lyon, France (2004). It has a deep voice for a Laydie, calfskin head not too tight. A real pleasure to frail on.
