Hello all,
I've become obsessed with the Earl Brothers rendition of Cluck Ole Hen (well I'm obsessed with the Earl Brothers period, but that's beside the point)., I'm struggling to figure the exact tuning Robert Earl Davis uses for this song. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Email him! I'm sure he'll reply. What else has he got to do? (Just kidding, I've known Bobby for years.) I seem to recall seeing his email address big & loud on their website. If not, email mandolinist Larry Hughes—he'll ask.
(Here's an old email address to try—not sure if it's current: robored@pacbell.net.)

I believe they recorded it in the key of G, and Robert sounds like he's just playing a straight gDGBD tuning, emphasizing the bluesy notes in his first position and up the neck breaks.
