I purchased the banjo about 10 months ago from a collector who kept the banjo in as close to mint condition as a used banjo can be. The only changes that have been made are the following:
1. The banjo was sent back to Bart for the addition of a scoop by the previous owner
2. A 5th string spike was added at the 7th fret by Bart at the same time
3. I took the banjo over to John Balch and he installed a 4-star skin head.
4. The banjo is set up with GHS PF 150 strings and a 11/16 Sousbee Crowe spaced bridge
5. The banjo comes with a Superior bump case, also in near mint condition
These banjo pot is made up of a White Lady tone ring with a bacon tone ring on top giving the banjo a lot of volume and more bottom end than you would normally get, at least to my ear. I had it up for sale a while back and John (Balch) talked me out of selling it. The range of the banjo is outstanding and it is a Bart Reiter. He didn’t make many of these.
I just got a Chuck Lee banjo, my favorite, so this one needs to go away.
These banjos complete from Bart don’t come around too often so here’s a chance to get an original which is likely to go up in value when Bart retires.
Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Reasonable offers gladly entertained.
Here's a reference to a post where I had the banjo posted for sale before I changed my mind the last time. This post has some great examples of John Balch playing his Reiter Bacophone so you can hear what one sounds like when played by someone who knows what they are doing:
