This is the first Lee banjo I have ever owned and I am sure it will not be my last! Built
by Chuck in 2007, this banjo channels a soul from the 19th century while exemplifying
the best of modern lutherie. A beautiful looking banjo with cherry neck carved to one of
the most ergonomic shapes I have encountered - really very nice. 25.5" scale, maple
rim with integrated tonering. Miller velum calfskin head, original tailpiece and... looks like
I have a Moon bridge on there now.
I used D'Addario J69 strings (0.009 --> 0.020) and tune up to A. The banjo plays nearly
effortlessly with competitive volume. The Lee "easy action adjustment" mechanism makes
dialing in the precise setup very easy.
The banjo was built with Pegheds tuners. The 5th string tuner broke and before my order
for a replacement could be filled (difficult to find at the time), I had a 5 Star professionally
installed by Jack O'Brien. I will include two, brand new Pegheds tuners with the sale enabling
the new owner the option of replacing the 5 Star.
