This is a very unique new type of hide head for banjo. The skin is African Goat. It has very cool NATURAL COLOR variation. This skin is not dyed ... THE COLOR IS 100% NATURAL.
The color is a combination of translucent khahi, dark brown (almost black), and shades of white. This head was cut from the center of the hide (spine running down the middle). That orientation produces the best look and strongest head. It is shaved, but there are very small remnants of the hair left behind.
Skins of this type are used on African Djembe Drums. Every hide looks diferent. I purchased several hides and only a few have been suitable for banjo (most are way too thick). The skins are oversized for one banjo ... but not large enough for two. Unfortunately there is waste and extra expense. But the look is fantastic...and they sound GREAT too.
This is the ONLY such head I can offer at this time. I've mounted only three (3). The first in on one of my banjos (that instrument has NEVER SOUNDED BETTER). This was the second hide I sucessfully mounted. The third was immediately sold to a friend.
