A very nice example of Bart Reiter's work on a blonde maple Whyte Laydie—a model that is not being made any more. The tone is typical, with, IMHO, a bit more depth than the models without the tone ring, and a bit more crispness than the Tu-ba-phone rings.
I bought this Whyte Laydie directly from Bart in November of 2010, for my own experiments in comparing the work of various makers. There is very little playing time on it and virtually no wear. I've listed the condition as "excellent" but some would describe it as "near-mint." There are no structural issues and only tiny cosmetic imperfections from wear. The neck is quite flat and the action is low with a .656 bridge.
The tailpiece is a stock no-knot as furnished by Bart; there was no armrest. The description of the Whyte Laydie on Barts website applies to this banjo except for the tailpiece. http://reiterbanjos.com/wlaydie.html
The case is a TKL, as shown, in excellent condition, and even has the advertising tag.
Interesting trade offers welcome in guitars, bluegrass or openback banjos with cash either way; sale preferred.
