This is a one of a kind opportunity to purchase "the" banjo that Steve himself used (minus some of his private collection of pre war parts at times) to test the new HR-30 tone ring and the new engineered rims during development. This banjo was used mainly gigging at the "Pizza Place" across from the shop in Hendersonville on Tuesday evenings with the Flatheads and can be heard on youtube on several cuts from SPGMA 2010. Just do a search for all of these clips and there may be some posted on the hangout as well I'm not sure. Now for the details. The resonator is a pre war 20's maple style 3 that Steve's dad reskinned and has been re appointed to 30's granada specs and finished in the Huber shop. The rim is an engineered rim selected by Brian and Steve to use for the "tests" after passing "Doc" Rae's and Brian's spec tests. It has the new brand logo and is finished to match after being played in the white by Steve for a while because too anxious to play it instead of finishing it. The ring is a slightly distressed logo'd HR-30 gold plated to match the older parts 20 hole flathead tone ring. The neck is the wonderful curly maple neck that was profiled a couple of different times and is the feel of the latest batch of Truetone banjos from IBMA and SPGMA. It has also been distressed and speed neck featured. There is mild fret wear no where near ready for any fret work yet. The maple is highly figured and smooth as silk. The remaining metal parts are new Huber granada or VRB-G engraved and gold plated and gold V-2 tuners with butterscotch buttons. This banjo is an animal. I obtained it as I do most of my Huber banjos by dealing with Steve on other parts and things so now it is your opportunity to have a piece of Huber banjo history. I'll have pics soon and Steve will be glad to document the banjo and treat it as any other banjo. It is sold as used not new but in great condition if you like a bit of distressed look. Now if you want it set up with pre war gold (some original some re plated) hardware I can make you a price that way also as it would almost replicate the set up Steve played but the new hardware to me doesn't distract from the sound at all.
