Bacon & Day Senorita 5-String resonator banjo.
Twenty-four lugs, sunburst effect on back of resonator, back of neck, side of banjo pot. Engraved designs (each different) on headstock, fretmarkers, heel cap.
One cool looking banjo! No idea when it dates from, but after 1941 as that's when B & D stopped using five-digit serial numbers. The serial number, stamped on the dowel, is 8285.
So far as I know, everything is original except for the headstock tuners, which are geared planetary style, and the fifth string tuner, which was originally a friction tuner, but which has been upgraded to a geared tuner.
I'd rate the banjo as 8 out of 10, condition-wise. There are a few nicks and dings, some wear on the back of the neck (probably from a guitar stand), the screw holes from the original tuners have not been filled, some tarnish to the metal parts, mainly on the armrest.
Photos tell the story best. (Enlarge for best results!)
I've never had any work done to it in the time I've owned it, as it's a fine player as is.
It comes in the same non-original (?) hard-shell case it came to me in, which is in great shape.
Any questions, or corrections, please get in touch.
Thanks!
