hello. could this tone ring be homemade. removed from a banjo that has many homemade parts..tension hoop flange tailpiece all with the same engraving. I know the 47 holes are randomly drilled holes by hand, but what puzzles me are the saw/cut marks on the inside of the ring. any ideas?
Definitely wasn’t turned on a lathe or drilled on a milling machine. How did it sound ? Could it be a poured mold ?
Looks like it was cut with with a torch, but you can't cut brass with a torch. I don't see why you would have to cut that part if I was molded? Ring sounds more like a flathead than an archtop. Fantastic sound for an open back.
