At an antique mall, they're asking $400 for this old 5 string banjo. It does seem old, it's marked "Elynor" and "Jos Rogers Jr", and "Minstrel Banjo". I can't really tell what the story with it is. Any info is appreciated. Zoom on the first picture to see head and markings, and I included 2 pictures of the back.

It looks like those generally attributed to Oscar Schmidt. But it doesn't really matter and there will likely never be any good data on these to know who made them.
These were made to the lowest possible price point when they were new. From the nearly non existent "fingerboard" (sometimes just stained) to the soft galvanized metal rim to the hex brackets-- this was the lowest of the low.
