I have been trying to contact Huber Banjos, but no luck (emailed and voicemails seem to be a one way experience). So maybe someone can offer some advice. I have a Kalamazoo that is really pristine with the exception of the top back of the neck. It has been stored for the last several years and the last time I cleaned it I treated the frets with some conditioner. Sadly I must had some trace amount of the conditioner on my left hand when I put it back in the case... there is some areas that seem to have eaten into the lacquer... absolutely bummed me out.
Wondering where I can have the finish either repaired or have the back converted to a speed neck? Not thrilled to ship it, but I'm up north about an hour from Pittsburgh Pa.
Any ideas would be appreciated,

For some reason it appears that Huber does not pride themselves on customer service. I do not own a Huber but from what you read on here , it’s hard to get help from them once you have their banjo. Good luck . Ditto on Mr Murphy’s advice.
On their website it states that they were out for a period in May.
I do not own a Huber banjo, but they have been very responsive when I contacted them.
Casey Sullivan does the finish work at Huber. I was in the Huber shop recently and Casey told me he was "covered up" in finish/re-finish work at that time.
Anyone you chose, you'll probably have no neck or no Kalamazoo for nearly a year once you send it out...

I'd have a qualified tech do the speed neck...I've done a couple that had finish issues and came out looking much better than WITH the issues.

Chris Warner is in your area. A great luthier and is a friend of Steve’s. I don’t know what turn around time would be in the shop. We are still kinda backed up

I had one banjo someone on here speed necked and I sure was glad it got away from me. If I did one myself, it’d be tru oil, not wax sealer.
Refinishing does not require someone who specializes in banjos. Anyone who does top notch finish work on instruments can do this work.
In the late 1970s when I was around electric guitar repair, we just walked prepped bodies down to an automotive finish shop and they sprayed the bodies for $20 with whatever color they were spraying on a car at the time. First rate finishes.
I had a Gibson electric and fender strat painted by local car painter, both turned out fantastic.
