I was able to get Charlie Cushman to set up a banjo for me.
He is such a nice person.
My banjo sounds soo much better. Especially when he played it to demonstrate the adjustments.
I realize that he could make a beginner banjo sound good.
He made my good banjo sound real good.
Charlie Cushman has a well deserved reputation as one of the best set up men in the business.
Barry, did you have to drop it off and leave it with him for awhile? How long did it take to complete?
I did have to drop it off
How long it takes depends on his examination and what I wanted. He took mine apart, cleaned it up. Replaced the head. Set it back up. Tried different bridges till he found one that sounded best.
Same experience here. I went with Haskel to get my RB4 done. Charlie does a fantastic job. He's a good guy also, and arguably the best picker in the business at this point. ...and yes he can make a cheap banjo sound great because of his skills...both picking and setup.
