The 1977 hit by Kansas, written by Kerry Livgren. It started out as an exercise to learn guitar fingerpicking and evolved from there after Livgren’s wife heard him playing the exercise and encouraged him to complete it.
I’m playing my Martin D-15S , spruce top, mahogany b&s.

Great song and a great job playing Chuck. Your Martin guitar sounds amazing!
When this song first came out I told myself it was a must learn piece. I initially believed it would be a relatively hard piece to learn but after working on it for a while I realized that the fingerpicking is basically one pattern that repeats as is the cord progression. After a bunch of practice the song seems to just roll out of one’s fingers. It’s one if those songs that can go on and on for as long as a person wants to play. I play a Martin M-36 and it sounds wonderful also.
Thanks again!
