Hi all! Anyone have experience in removing the slotted heel neck adjuster from a Leedy? I already removed the internal locking bolt. There is a metal dowel that goes across the neck. Does that need to be pushed out? All the glue joints in the neck have failed so I need to be able to separate the halves of the neck to clean and reglue. I think I attached a photo. If not I will try again
I was able to restore the shrunken back celluloid by prying and sanding off the old walnut plywood and I used the domed back of a modern resonator. Just glued the top layer of the old plywood on the inside and the celluloid on the outside and it is good as new. But the bottom layer of the old walnut was fused to the celluloid. It took several hours of sanding until there was so little wood left that the celluloid was relaxed enough to reglue.
