Was playing mine today. I like it but I thought it could look so much better. Some AI-generated improvements. Obviously from a Fender fan.
Maple peghead with stylized text, no binding, rosewood fingerboard with white position dots, custom blade switch control plate, original Fender finishes, custom single-ply Bakelite black pick guard. I also don't like the peghead angling backwards on the production model. Could tweak more but it's a start. Just having a little fun.
Gold Tone, make it happen, please. Grich???? :P

Oh for sure. Could just sand down the current model and do some or a lot of this. I'm not really a luthier, but I've surprised myself what I can install/repair/upgrade on some of my instruments. With enough time and motivation and a lot of money spent at StewMac I could probably even do it in my own shop. I'm not going to, but I likely could.
Mostly it's aesthetic, but I'd be a bit more proud of some of these designs on stage. The current offering smacks of GT's general "folky-ness" in some of their designs. I get that these aren't really Fenders, but you use Fender's design language in major ways but then use mismatched details. Likely just for cost or whatever but it looks a bit weird, at least to someone familiar with the style.
It's an expensive niche product though and probably doesn't sell enough to support any of this, or having multiple "options". Of the electric models this is my favorite by far and has potential. Maybe they could at least refresh it a bit.

Yeah the head/pot isn't strictly necessary, I guess. I mean I like the little acoustic sound it makes, but this thing is running magnetic pickups. Without a little help from acoustic pedals/amps it actually does sound more like an electric guitar. One can of course string any old Tele/guitar like a banjo, and people do sometimes. It kinda works, but depending on your technique a guitar neck just isn't right.
