If someone gets irritated at what I say, I wouldn't say that to them. That would usually rile them up worse, at least in my opinion. I'd try to change the subject and find something that wasn't irritating to them to talk about or.... just end the conversation and walk away if they continued to be irritated. I don't need that kind of stress in my life.
