Piece of 4x4 dunnage fell off a truck on the hyway.. Liz did good tho driving..no place to go with all the snow stacked on the side of the hyway.. No blood so I do not care... The rim is a buggah to find in the junk yards...tho..
Some years back a young guy in our area hit a piece of leaf spring [IIRC] on the road. It came up through the floorboard and sliced his inner thigh. Quite a serious injury; he was on crutches for many months .... we moved away from the area .... don't know how it all panned out.
If traffic allows, I generally stop and pick up some of our "campfire wood" from on/along the highway.
Atta girl Liz!!! Glad no blood!!! On the way to NY the other day we had a good size rock fly up from a vehicle ahead of us. Hit the windshield and no damage, but I flinched so damn bad I thought I broke my dam neck. Still stiff and sore!!! Slammer!!!
Y'know a buddy gave me a cycle rim that looked similar. I thought, what could it hurt? I tried to bang it back in place. Actually, I got it pretty close. I may have backed it with some sort of dolly, like a peice of rail. It can't be cast. Cast would've cracked or broke. The usual disclaimers apply.
Lucky break, yikes. I ran over a “road gator” a few years ago in Utah with my car - sun in my eyes , topping a hill. The trucker was just walking back to clear it off the highway. I waved and smiled at him, but big time damage to my front end when I got home,,, $$$
Stud......near meself there's a rim specialist who repairs and re-rounds bent rims......now, I don't have knowledge about cast aluminum rims but I bet there is a rim magician out there in rimland who could repair that for you - likely needing some sleuthing around or contacting specialty restoration and/or speed shops - or, shipping off to the biggest two-horse town.
