I have the opportunity to reassemble and set up a prewar Granada, probably the first time I've ever handled a prewar Granada. I'm looking forward to it.

Congratulations on a great opportunity. Be sure to take pics of each piece for later reference. You will likely go back to them many times in the future.

Be careful tightening the tension hooks, the tips crack/break easily.

Same for tightening the armrest to the side of the pot. The solder frequently weakens and cracks holding the top piece to the bottom piece.

I was fortunate in my banjo working days to be the maintanence and repair person for a customers original flat head prewar granda tb conversion for almost two decades, everything about it defined prewar flathead tone

Doug,

If you're putting it together, someone must have taken it apart. Who took it apart, and why did they do that?  And, the $64,000 question is: are you going to use a Drum Dial for the setup?

We postponed the job for 2 weeks, because of the winter weather. But I will try to get photos. I think they took it apart to clean the parts up so it's clean for a sale. IDK for sure. I won't be using a drum dial, I don't own one. I tap tone the head. We'll have to let it sit for a week so the new head stretches.

rb 3 only amateurs use drum dials, they are useless if you understand banjo dynamics and tone
