I am thinking of converting my Troubadour to bluegrass configuration by adding a flange and reso. I have a good selection of resos that I can reconfigure but the flange is the issue. I have a couple of Asian two piece flange plates from Rover brand banjos but they are close but don't line up properly.
Does anyone know what flange plates would work with this?
Can you measure the distance between the J-hooks?
I sold my troubadour so I can't say for sure but I recall it had a fairly standard 24-hook setup with a notched rim, spaced for what I think was a Stewmac/5star notched tension hoop. So whatever flange plates fit that spacing would likely fit.
You could also use the little flange tabs, four of them that attach to 2 J-hooks each. Not pretty, but effective. Any machine shop could make them if needed, and they're small enough you might be able to plate them yourself at home.

Wayne,
Are the Deering Boston butterfly flange plates on your radar? These are made for a 24-hook 11" banjo and iff you can get them down there; the price is not too terrible.

The Prucha (tube) plate should fit, but, who knows?

I have similar flange plates from a G,H&S (George Houghton & Sons) British made banjo but they are designed to fit a smaller rime and are no good. I am trying to do things on the cheap as I am on a pension. Its not a major thing but I thought I would investigate to see what is out there.
