We're above average here. Days usually in the 80s, nights can get down in the 40s. We're supposed to have a cold front come in Sunday night and drop our day temps in the 60s and night temps in the upper 30s. Probably last a couple of days and back to above average. Not complaining, I like the cooler but not cold weather.
I've only had to turn on the furnace one time when the house got down to 69. That's a little too cold for comfort for me.

Came home from a tour of Ireland yesterday to find that the flowers were still blooming in November? Finished digging up potatoes and carrots. Still have to rake up leaves. Light flurries on Sunday. I usually have the mowing deck off and the snow blade on by now. I did get the wood burner all ready to go at the cottage up north. Kind of hoping we have some good snow this winter. Michigan isn't much fun in the winter without snow.

Brushing up on the holiday banjo songs for my fan(s) at the Farmers Market.
We were in Ireland for Halloween. The day after, and Halloween decorations were down and and Christmas decorations were up. Guinness brewery was decorated for Christmas before Halloween - but they said that was only the beginning of the decorations.
Yes!!! Laying on the floor in front of the woodstove with my wife and kids is my “Happy Place”….especially after a long thankless day at work out in the cold rain.
My little boy is 3…and he loves to help daddy make a fire. Watches intently as I cut kindling…and helps me carry it in and place it in the stove…and crinkle paper and put it in.
Little things like that keep me going.
And with the price of oil today…especially in this state, I can hardly afford to fill the oil tank for the furnace….the woodstove is a life saver.
Watching you cut kindling = good .... actually trying his hand at it, maybe not so much. ![]()
It reminds me of a bit of our family lore. When my younger sister/brother [twins] were 4 or 5 ish. .... I guess the ax hadn't been put away ... they decided to help out (?). My brother held the stick and my sister operated the ax. Next thing, they're at the house crying for Mom's help. Turns out the very tip of one of my brother's fingers took the brunt .... not back as far as the bone, and still held on by a flap of skin. So Mom cleaned it, laid it back in place and bandaged it up. It healed just fine, and though there's a scar, no problems at all.
[I suppose if the bone had been nicked/crunched they'd have made the +1/2 hour trip to a doc, but in the early 50s ..... ??]

We got our first dusting of snow today. The roads aren't covered, just wet (but probably slippery). This is the time of year when drivers have to learn to drive in snow - all over again.
It's -1C now, going to -2C overnight and 0C tomorrow.
I got lazy and didn't rake any leaves yesterday. Should have. It's going to be at least until Tuesday until I can - maybe several days more.
