Is it still standard guitar tuning, or does she modify it?

I play clawhammer guitar a little - DADGAD works - it's a D version of sawmill tuning pretty much.... (with a low drone string and an extra high D)

Also try DADF#AD - this is like open D or Ruben tuning - sounds great to me.

I do Pretty Polly in DADGAD - works a treat.

Clawhammer guitar is quite quiet - doesn't totally cut through in an acoustic session.

Just give a try!

From what I have been able to gather, she usually uses DGDGCD, which I guess functions like a G-based Sawmill tuning.

Steve Baughman is great at CH guitar (and banjo).  Check out his "Reuben's Train to Turkey".

no biggie IMHO...if no flat pick is around and I want/need to play guitar (which is kinds rare for me) I just claw it...Molly didn't invent it...but she got attention for doing it...good for her
