Hi all,

I'm planning to build a mountain banjo from the Stanley hicks template in the Foxfire book.

Ive converted inch to mm and draw some CAD's on my computer.

however the measurements contradict one another

take a look at the attached.

if you study D (the overall length), C (bottom of the pot to the 5th tuner) ......they differ from the measurements of E (centre of the head to the 5th tuner) F (top of the pot to the 5th tuner) G (5th tuner to nut) & H (the pegged)

surely B + F + G +H should add up to D (the overall length)

has anyone else encountered this?

Google Bluestem banjo plans and look for the Frank Proffitt banjo plans. Much better I think.

Considering that all the measurements are conveniently in fourths or eigths of an inch, I think it's safe to say there was some approximating/rounding going on.

The drawing is not dimensioned properly. There should not be both a "D" dimension and an "H" dimension. One of those two should be deleted, or one of them should be identified as a reference dimension with the correct value.
