Even though this museum is less than 15 miles from home I've never gone there.
They have shows and auctions (an old friend once bought a perfect steel-body '32 Pontiac set onto a modern Camaro chassis there) and I was asked to be part of the entertainment next weekend with a couple of friends.

Good place to be "discovered".

'T ain't nawthin' to feel bad about, Steve.
How many State o' Mainers have driven Rte. 1 and never stopped at Perry's Nut House? (Is it still extant?)
Have fun at the gig!

I was 21 before I stepped foot on Monhegan,Tim.
Went to PNH on an 8th grade class trip. The gorilla met us at the door.
Never went back.

I'm 81 and still haven't made it to Monhegan!
(Sure do remember that -- male -- gorilla, though.)

Played a bunch of music on Monhegan in the 80s and 90s.
And booze cruises on the mailboat.

Booze cruise -- Mailboat: now that's some downeast multi-tasking!
I used to do a lot of those with our Irish band, out of Plymouth and on the Cape (Cod).
Things could get a little movable in a swell -- even without the booze!

We'd leave the dock in Port Clyde at around 9pm on Saturday night with Owner/Capt. Jimmy Barstow at the helm.
He'd find leeward berths around certain islands or drift up the St.George River on the tide.
We'd get back to the dock between 1 and 2AM Sunday.

For a great song about a cruise and more than a little booze before, during, and after, see "The Craic Was Ninety in the Isle of Man" by Barney Rush.

White Freightliner went over well.
I was playing with a perfect '41 Lincoln right behind me and a 1904 Silver Ghost in front.
I tried to get the singer to do Hey Little Cobra or She's Real Fine My 409,but time wouldn't allow.

Great day of a few hundred vehicles of all types.Lots of motor noise.
I'm going back soon for a couple hours of wandering.

Sounds like you had you some fun, Steve.
I love the old songs -- and the old cars, especially Model-A Fords.

Everything displayed was "as new".
Quite amazing.Extensive descriptions of the work that had been done on them.
Their auctions are incredible.
