I purchased another banjo project from FB Marketplace NZ and it came to me in pieces (but I knew that). The condition was appalling with the metal plating flacking off and severe tarnishing. I sent the tension ring, flange and all the other hardware to a local sand/soda blaster and they stripped it all. I have decided not to replate it but leave it as it is. I have never seen a jo like this and the name Farfenglong was unknown to me. A search revealed it was made in Korea in the 70's. One of the strange things about it is the lag bolts are just 1/4” BSW threaded rod taped and threaded into the heel. The co-ord rods are real mixed bag but do seem to work. They also are 1’4” BSW. The hooks and nuts are totally weird being M4.5 x .75 threads (according to my charts). I never knew that size/gauge actually existed. I have a friend here who makes in NZ ‘Tui’ banjos who has offered to make 5 nuts to the sample I am sending. One of the good things is it came with a case. Any thoughts?
