Hey everybody. Greetings from Central Florida. There is a lot of excitement in the air around here this morning. It's Grand Opening Day for Universal Studios new theme park, Epic Universe. I'm literally right next door!
The company where I work has been building the new park for the past five years. I got "Let go" from the company I where I worked for 27 years almost two years ago. But I found a better gig here at TAIT. I am a Controls Systems Technician. I build stuff for Theme Parks, Stadium Con ert tours, cruise ships...entertainment. I'm having a blast at the end of my career. I hope to find more time to hang out here more.

How did the kidney stone adventure turn out. Just had my 10mm done this morning so I'm guessing the pain med hasn't worn off just yet. Already passing sand.

I have an appointment next week (finally) with a Nephrologist to find out why I'm making stones.

I met my half brother for the first time a couple of years ago at our father's funeral. I found out he works for UP in Rawlins Wyoming. Part of the original Transcontinental RR.

hope all goes well for you. My stone did not cause any real problems, didn't know I had one until I went to a one year follow last Sept for a stone That was blasted back in 2023. I waited for a while to have this latest stone blasted. Did you have a 24 urine collection test done?

I did the 24 hour collection. Then bloodwork and an ultrasound in preparation for the appointment.

My research has opened my eyes. FYI folks if you are prone to stones and I don't mean the Mick Jagger kind shy away from Pepcid as a acid reducer. It seems that may have caused this latest one. Did not use a pain pill or nausea medication this go around and the stones came out like sand through an hour glass.

Wow! I had both my kidneys done last Fall by laser lithroscopy (sp). I didn't pass anything afterward that I was aware of. But now, a few months later, I already have more stones, which is worrisome!. I know they are made of calcium oxalate. We'll see next week what the doc says.
If the thread drift is now over to KIDNEY STONES,
Now let's all grab them banjos and SING!
=========================
Well, they stone ya so that you can't even walk!
And they stone ya so it's even hard to talk.
And they stone like a knife, for what it's worth!
And they stone ya like a man who's giving birth!
You're gonna howl and scream and groooooan!
Everybody hates a kidney stone!
Well they stone ya when they sneak up on ya, quiet.
And you'll wish you'd watched your exercise and diet.
And you'll holler out some obscene nouns and verbs,
And you'll beg your friends for ointments, pills, or herbs.
You'll try reach out by the Internet, or phoooooone!
Everybody hates a kidney stone!
Now, the pain will make you nervous and afraid!
And you might reach out for hardened lemonade.
And your doctor may suggest lithotripsy,
And it ain't easy finding rhymes for lithotripsy!
At least you know you're not out there, aloooone!
Everybody hates a kidney stone!

Now that's funny! Classic Mike. It's good to see you again, my friend.
Hey from da U.P. Randy!!! It’s exactly one year ago I retired. Was nervous about it but have ZERO regrets. Don’t know how I managed to squeeze a 40-50 hour work week in our schedule. I was mentally done with my career for quite a while and knew it was time to pull the plug. I was not good for the hospital and the hospital was not good for me!!!
Trust me when I say……..You’ll know when it’s time!!! If you’re on the fence, pull the trigger and don’t look back. If you enjoying your work yet , it’s not a terrible thing either. You and I are the same age and grew up during the same era and I believe we have experienced so many of the same things………family values, work ethic, upbringing, value of a buck and life experiences.
Those don’t change when you retire!!! Enjoy the day my friend!!!
Slammer!!!
