Decades ago I obtained a Turner which literally fell apart in my hands. I photocopied the fretboard to show the inlay locations and salvaged the inlays. It has been one of those projects that I would get around to it when I had time. I now have time so have restarted.
I have the Siminoff book 'Construction A 5 String Banjo' and it is an excellent guide but I am posting to solicit other folks' opinions.
Read the “For Luthier” section of the late Frank Ford’s frets.com if you haven’t already. The guitar and mandolin sections both have techniques that also apply to banjo work, so don’t ignore them.
