Barry,
I have the first volume of Bluegrass Banjo for Dummies by Bill Evans. The pages are dog eared, marked with sticky tabs, scored with yellow highlighter marker, and I have penciled in notes in the margins. It's packed with most of the information a banjo player will need not only to get started playing banjo, but continue to use as a reference manual throughout one's playing career.
That said, I'm curious as to what has been added or changed in volume two, and if it is worth the upgrade from volume one.
The first book covers general bluegrass and claw hammer. The 2nd book expands on the first book. I don’t see anything about claw hammer. Tabs on standard bluegrass songs. Example: Cripple Creek has 4 versions. Essential licks in G, C and D. Fill in licks. Up the neck and down the neck back-up. Online there are audio and video examples. Well worth it to me.
