Lots of wisdom about learning, practicing, and playing as a part of life from one of my favorite banjo players (and a great person to boot):

You could easily meet him at Midwest Banjo Camp. He and all of Special Consensus will be there as a house band. All of the instructors are very accessible here. You're already in the same state. I met him two years ago. Really nice guy and really supportive.

I met Greg (and Greg Blake) at the Big Bend Bluegrass Festival last fall. Nice guy, showed me the special Deering he was playing and explained the inlays, etc. Easy to talk to and seemed sincere.

I enjoyed this--especially what he said about JD Crowe's approach on volume

I met Greg around 1990 at Blissfest in Michigan. He was the first great banjo player I had the chance to see live. I was living in the Chicagoland area at the time and took a handful of lessons at his apartment in Evanston. That advanced my playing by light years.

Greg is a class act.
