Took a trip yesterday to St. Louis and stopped at the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park. This Gibson was on display. I found it interesting that they have it listed as maker unknown.

Appears to be a 1927, ‘28, or early ‘29 TB 4 (based on the tube and plate flange)

Wonder what the "black" tuners are all about......

Why it's labeled "unknown", not sure, it does say Gibson tenor banjo at the very top of the info placard.

When did Gibson inlay the name so high up on the peghead?

Inlays look questionable to me. Spacing seems unusual.
