Yes, that dreary, foggy, cloudy, sun-starved nation is about to begin experiments which generate new denser clouds so as to block out yet more of that dreaded sunshine. The Guardian article. Seems like hubris similar to the early atomic energy experiments, when they really didn't know what would happen when they split an atom---would the chain reaction stop? Ever?------but by golly they went right ahead anyway. I suppose that if they get it wrong they can always say "oops----sorry about that" and we're all good. But some of us love our blue skies!

He's left (!) the building.... not on the membership search, I tried
Last posting was in 2014. He may have passed or just left the BHO. He certainly isn't a member here anymore

Well it's a slightly overcast day here. So hoping for some rain to compensate for our, so far, dry and sunny April. Whatever happened to April showers ? But what should I expect in the capital of a "foggy, cloudy, sun starved" country that gets less rain than NYC, Dallas, Chicago, Nashville, Miami... Not to mention Rome and Paris.
You do know that those "foggy London town" films you saw where made years ago on a back lot in Hollywood.
And you did read that article that described the experiments as "small-scale and rigorously assessed" ?
We've been pumping billion of tons CO2 into the atmosphere for a couple of centuries now with no control or oversight. Why is looking at whether we can mitigate the damage that that that has caused such a bad idea ?

If you need rain and clouds, I would invoke Murphy's First Law of Physics, and start investing a lot in solar energy.
I first saw the term "hosepipe" in one of the seafaring "Hornblower" books. Seems Captain Horatio Hornblower enjoyed taking a shower bath on deck, seawater supplied through the hosepipe by sailors operating a bilge pump. Didn't say that he was naked at the time. Can't imagine a captain being naked before the whole crew, back when England was fighting Napoleon.
ANyway, I read most or all of the Hornblower stories, and

Look at it or dont...
Ridicule or praise..
I do not care one way or the other..
Just another point of view I guess..
^^ , like stuff from the other end of the spectrum, would be much easier to watch/digest/stomach/?? IF the "editorializing"/ranting/?? was scrapped in favor of a straightforward, dispassionate presentation of facts. IMNSHumbleO, of course. .... and, I expect, pie-in-the-sky thinking as well.

As I did not even watch it..just posted it.. ;0)
Well I suppose that they have to do something now, I mean The Mirror reports a "Heatwave Horror" of 22C, sorry, make that "Mega 22C," which is about 71F. Most of us call that a nice Spring day instead of a "horror." Mirror article
Hey, just making fun of the Brits' sillyness as a way of taking a break from the nonstop domestic nonsense.

Tabloids need their click bait headlines. They won't get far by saying it will be nice and warm. Weather headlines in the tabloids are always good for a laugh/laughable. There have been many worse ones. However they are missing a trick because the forecast suggests it will be getting up to 25C. The always ludicrous Express syas "27C heat bomb".
"Phew whata Scorcher".
When I was a wee lad we had lots of Brits moving into the city. Our neighbor Mr. Isherwood knocked on the front door and asked to borrow the 'hoozpipe'. I had no clue what he was talking about.
Britain is full of innovative people which is probably why they have tackled and conquered many worldly problems. After our bus left Stonehenge the tour guide recalled a local council member who suggested an idea to counter act some recent minor vandalism inflicted on the ancient artifacts . His solution was to copy and construct the complete exhibit out of styrofoam. He suggested that the actual Stonehenge site should be closed to the public and us visitors would likely be satisfied with a precision copy made of modern day goop. I think the fabricated cloud idea will die the same fate.
