My friend, Roger, wanted to try a Corian tone ring. I fitted his Deering Sierra pot with one. After wandering in the USPS system for over two weeks, he got it back yesterday. He is happy with the results. He wanted to lighten his banjo since standing in a bluegrass group for a couple hours with any bluegrass banjo is challenging.
The swap took 2.5 pounds off his Sierra.
Roger has three banjos he sent me audio files of. The Sierra with the Corian ring. Another with a Neat neck and Blaylock ring and a Gibson 00 with no ring.
You can try to figure out which is which. I will give it a day or so to reveal.

Interesting take--I'll be interested to see which one is which.
I've often wondered about different modern materials for banjos (e.g. carbon fibre / composites) - and not just for tone rings but for bridges, necks, etc.
I'm sure some folks are experimenting--will be interesting to see if it goes anywhere...
You did great! PM me.
